If anything, to me Christmas celebrates the return of Light.
And lo and behold! After weeks of having been covered by a duvet of thick, grey clouds, this morning it was the sun that kissed me awake.

Hellohoho!!! Merry Christmas, everybody!!!

But no fancy dress for me for now! Chritmas brunch could wait with this Sun shining!
I swiftly drilled my husband and kids into their clothes.
Into the car we went! To the Beach!!!
And look at that heavy duvet of clouds to the North of where we were heading…
We’d intended to go to a beach to the North of us, but Mother Nature’s message was clear, so into the West we went!
And there, in the far and wide West lay the beach, waiting for us…

So light and welcoming…
The Light was wonderful…
Hellohoho!!! Another excited X-mas wave…but this time from the Beach!!!

Flushing Boulevard looked so beautiful in the Sun!

And the shapes in the distance across the water are getting a whole new meaning…
Fortunately they are only a little bit of water away…
Strings of grey sky cotton kept passing us by…heading North

So many structures…so many lines…

And even more…I loved the bird that flew into my photo!

A sky can never be bluer…look at the different shades…from a light Cerulean to a deep Cobalt.
Gorgeous!!! And so few people were there…

The waves…Oh! The Waves!

And the rippling of the water…on the ripples in the sand…

And the wind smashing the waves onto shore, breaking them on the rocks…

Such fascinating structures in what looks like elephant skin…or molten lava on the dike.

The beauty of the pipes of the wind organ,
ochre and yellow against the Cobalt sky…
Unfortunately the mic of my camera only caught the wind,
not the music the wind organ produces…
(See why I needed a new camera?
The strings of dust in the lens
cannot be removed…too bad!)

But the organ provided a lovely place for play and photo shooting!
So nice to shoot against the Sun!

This little girl caught behind bars? Or just in a picture?

Lovely how the Sun lights and darkens…

Hohoho! A Christmas selphy!!!

Christmas inspiration…those wonderful ripples in the sand…

From up close the ripples, if yellow, could be the sand dunes in a desert…

There weren’t too many people…but the gulls came close…
…right over our heads…

And a group of cormorants….

Oh yes, how could I forget her?
Silke was visibly überexcited and happy!
She barked all the time we were there…

Isis found a little vodka bottle and filled it with Christmas sand…

And we found some unexpected treasures of colour…

…left behind by the Storm that touched our shores the past days.

It had even blown an elephant ashore!

Dear Silke…watching the girls while enjoying the rare chance of sitting on the bench with us!

Hohohow many fingers?

Wiiihhooooohoho! I couldn’t stop smiling and waving!!!
Hi to y’all!!!

Not everybody was celebrating Christmas.
Big ships passed the shore…
I thought for a second,
I could hear the sailors sing their Christmas carols…

More peaceful a place than this beach this morning there can hardly have been…

Even Flushing looked like heaven from here…

I enjoyed the lines, structures and textures to bits and pieces today!
Soooo much inspiration! Can’t wait to get drawing again!

Bye bye dunes…it was time to go.
So when the grass waved in the wind, I began to wave bye-bye…

Bye-bye wind organ…

Bye-bye beautiful beach.
And bye-bye beautiful Light…the clouds are back to cover it…
But we’ve had THE best Christmas morning EVER!!!
