My Art Journal was at the top of my list today. But since my tumble dryer died last Saturday, I had to find myself a new rack to dry my laundry on. (I’ve decided I want to dry my laundry ecologically friendly from now on…by air!) Once immersed in my gigantic heap of laundry, I thought it was best to make sure all of it was “washed away” before night. Since it rarely happens that I feel like the household, I thought I’d best take advantage of the opportunity and get busy.In between washing machine shifts I answered some e-mails, made some sketches and then this lovely little fish-in-love flowed from my finger tips…or no, from the tips of my Albrecht Dürer pencils…I used only three colors…Indianthrene blue, peacock blue and light ultramarine…

It is as if I’m rediscovering color pencils. I love the ethereal look of the fish…I love the control the pencils offer and I love the minute and slow strokes over the smooth paper.

Up until a while ago, I always used color pencils to color patches of drawings evenly. But by sketching in my Art Journal I discovered sketching with color pencil and then coloring it with the same pencils with strokes, not even patches of color. I’m totally smitten with it and my mind is already making a list of things I want to draw in color pencil….

For tomorrow my Art Journal is at the top of my list. But first I have to let these heavy eyes fall shut and get some inspiration from the realm of dreams…
