Cocooning
That’s how I can best describe
what I’ve been up to the past two weeks.
Of course there were people moments.
Christmas, New Year’s eve, a visit in our former home town, granddad.
But mostly,
this fortnight has been about my family and home.
With the family come games.
And cooking. And books. And graphic novels.
One of which I’ve just finished reading.
And it was so good that I wanted to share it with you.
By no means a new book
but new to me
is “Wonderstruck” by Brian Selznick.
(of: “Het Wonder Kabinet” in het nederlands)
The book braids two stories together,
one written,
one drawn,
in a moving and beautiful way.
It’s a children’s book,
meaning children from 9 to 99 years of age.
Here’s a little video:
Much of the book
takes place in the American Museum of Natural History.
For those who want to take a virtual trip there,
with Brian Selznick, click here.
While you watch,
I’m slowly waking up from this cosy hibernation.
Getting ready for the coming Manic Monday.
See you then!
Oh, and before I forget,
A Happy New Year, everyone.
Rough times may be ahead in 2013, economically.
But still, happiness lies best concealed
in the little things
that money can’t buy.
