Out of fear of boring you with another “to hell with windows!” title, I chose to describe the current state of my computer. It’s bare, but still undone.

Basically, I uninstalled and deleted any program that might interfere with Windows 7. I even got rid of Mozilla programs for Windows kept on urging me to install all kinds of “Mozilla for Windows”-plugins. Hell, no! So, okay, if Windows wants me to use Microsoft internet software…okay, for now. Until I know how to solve the problem I’ll try to just keep the symptoms under control.

So, all that was left on my computer was Windows, office, Picasa and the drivers for my scanner and printer. Oh, and McAfee. And what do you know? It worked. My computer had suddenly gone problem free!!! For almost an entire day!!! Wow!

Until this morning! Again my networkadapter had been turned off and again I had to do systemrestore and then turn on the networkadapter!!! That way it takes about 20 minutes to turn on the computer.

So, naked as my computer now is, the problem is still there. After 3 re-installations! The only thing I can think of right now, is to not install the virusscanning software at all. They are renowned for conflicting hugely with any operating system. But that means I have to reinstall the whole thing AGAIN! And run my computer without a virus scan! (Although I have to admit, I’ve never had a virus scan before. Usually I’m pretty capable of getting rid of the viruses that come in. Only hijackers are annoying because they take over your computer. But all the rest. Oh, well. Those I can deal with.)

I would like to give that one chance and go ahead with it. But I don’t really have the time right now. It takes at least a whole day to get everything up and running. And that at the risk that Windows 7 will simply keep on showing the same problems over and over AGAIN! And I’m not sure I want to take that risk when life’s hectic as it is already.

So, I’m going to put my 5-year old and problem-free computer downstairs, hook up my printer and scanner and work on that. It’s been updated seriously and so it isn’t even slower than our 2-year old computer at all!!! Go figure!

Okay, so in the promise of bypassing my Windows problems for now, I’m going to get packing again. And I hope that I’ll be able to draw a little something today. I desperately want the Christmas banner to disappear.
